The Sussexes

The Duchess of Sussex asked her make-up artist to help her on her big day through emjois

In an exclusive interview with Elle, Daniel Martin, a Dior Brand Ambassador and Honest Beauty Creative Color Consultant revealed how the Duchess of Sussex asked him to do her makeup for her wedding day.

Daniel has known Meghan since 2011 and worked with her on various press tours and red carpets. He spoke of how with the use of two little emjois, he was about to come into the biggest job of the year!

Speaking to Elle, he said: “Meghan and I communicate a lot through text because I travel for work and because of the time difference between the both of us, it’s hard to get on the phone. So she sent me a text asking what I was doing the weekend of May 19th. I was like, “I may be in Cannes for the film festival but what’s up…” and she sent me the bride and groom emoji right back and I literally dropped my phone! Then she sent me the shhhh emoji back so I couldn’t let anyone know.”

Morning of the wedding, Daniel joined Meghan and others for breakfast where the bride was “extremely chill.” Meghan’s hairstylist, Serge Normant also said similar comments.

“We were just having a great time. Everything was very chill. I know it’s hard for people to believe that, but it was just really easy all around,” Serge recalled.

Daniel also did the mother-of-the-bride, Doria Ragland’s, makeup.

The natural beauty needed very little touchups during the day other than some blot papers and lipstick.

When asked what was was like to attend the wedding, Daniel recalled: “It was one of the most emotional weddings I’ve ever attended, to be honest. There was so much love in the chapel and knowing that millions of people around the world were also witnessing the same thing made it resonate that much more. It was a moment in time I will never forget.”
