While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a jam-packed trip to Birkenhead last week, they still took the time to give some young royal fans a special encounter with the royal duo.
Members of the public gathered in Hamilton Square during the couple’s visit hoping to see a glimpse of Harry and Meghan. Little did some young fans realise the surprise they would get. In the square, there were blind children who had wanted to touch the royals’ faces because they couldn’t see them.
Graciously, the couple got down to the children’s level and let them touch their faces. Twitter user TraceyMarie shared a photo of Meghan taking a card made for her in braille. Giving the young fans an even more personal experience.
Tracey wasn’t the only one to talk about the couple’s visit. Frank Field, a Member of Parliament for Birkenhead took to Twitter to thank the couple for their kindness during their visit.
Field started a Twitter thread regarding tweets he had seen from residents. Saying that the tweets sum up how much the visit meant especially to the children of the town.
The couple also popped into a community café during their visit. Number 7, is a supermarket set up to help those with lower incomes. The couple officially opened the market, which is run by Feeding Britain, a mix of community groups, churches and food banks.
While customers were excited to see the famous pair in their store, they were even more excited about the news regarding the royal baby. During the visit, Meghan revealed that she and Harry are unsure on whether they will be welcoming a girl or boy. However, she did say that the couple wants to keep the gender of the baby a surprise until the big day. Earlier in the day, Meghan had also revealed that she is six months pregnant and that the baby is due at the end of April.
