Surprise! Duchess of Sussex joins Duke of Sussex at WE Day UK

On Wednesday, a heavily-pregnant Duchess of Sussex surprised guests at WE Day UK by joining her husband, the Duke of Sussex on stage.

Prince Harry, 34 gave an empowering speech encouraging the youth to take part in creating a positive social change. As part of a global initiative, Harry spoke to the 12,000 students and teachers that filled SSE Wembley Arena. Guests in attendance are invited to the event because they have done something to make a difference in their local community.

Speaking as President of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, Harry said: “To be amongst all of you progressive, motivated, open minded, change-makers, is what give me hope for the future.”

He then went on to add, “Your optimism is inspiring – you see opportunities where other people see challenges; you seek solutions when others just focus on problems.”

During his speech, Harry took the time to speak on the importance of mental health and, health of the planet.

“We now have the facts, the science, the technology and the ability to save not just our planet, but ourselves.”

Going on to finish, “Our world’s greatest assets are threatened every day and it is so important that we support local communities to safeguard every element of this incredible world.”

After finishing his speech, Harry led his wife Meghan Markle (37) by hand into the spotlight. After sharing a hug, Harry told the crowd: “I am with you, and we are with you.”

The Duke and Duchess weren’t the only ones at the star-studded event. Other celebrities in attendance included Naomi Campbell, Nichole Scherzinger and Pixie Lott.

Harry’s speech came as his brother and sister-in-law, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Blackpool to see some of the health and social problems facing the city.

The Duchess of Sussex is set to join a panel discussion on Friday where she will be convened by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust to discuss issues affecting women in today’s society.

Just a few days later on 11 March, the Sussex’s will attend a Commonwealth Day event at Canada House.
