Prince Harry makes unofficial visit to Lympstone Marine Camp in Exeter

<![CDATA[Prince Harry made a surprise visit to Exeter today, which has been confirmed by the Lympstone Royal Marine Camp.

Prince Harry

There were a flurry of social media reports of the fourth in line to the throne being in Exeter this yesterday, with Twitter users reporting to see him bustling through the city with his police escort.
As it turns out, the Prince was in town for the Corps’ Rehabilitation Triathlon at Lympstone Commando Training Center (CTC).
The Prince undertook an ‘unofficial’ visit to Lympstone, and it was only through social media that his presence was revealed.
He called the injured marines ‘awe-inspiring’ as they took part in the Triathlon. Around 100 serving Royal Marines and veterans, including members of the Corps’ rehabilitation troop, Hasler Company and some from the United States Marine Corps and Royal Netherlands Marines Corps with life-changing injuries and illnesses like combat stress, took part in the triathlon, which included swimming, static rowing and cycling.
15 of the American Marines are part of the ‘Wounded Warriors’ project in the United States; the project is where Harry got his idea for his Invictus Games.
Some of the participants are Invictus Games hopefuls; the Games open in September at the former London 2012 sporting venues.
Team GB Winter Olympic bobsleigh athlete, Sergeant John Jackson, who competed at Sochi 2014, was one of the event organisers a physical trainer; he told the press that Harry regarded the men and women ‘with awe’.
The triathlon was funded and supported by Help for Heroes, as part of its extensive Sports Recovery Programme, supporting injured and wounded Armed Forces Personnel, in partnership with the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
