Medical provisions have been put into place as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex begin their five-day visit to Morocco.
Their Royal Highnesses touched down at Casablanca airport late on Saturday evening and will be staying at the royal residence as guests of The King.
Sources have confirmed that “medical provisions have been made” should the Duchess, who is seven months pregnant, need any medical attention.
Harry & Meghan were welcomed to Morocco on Saturday evening by the UK ambassador to Morocco, Thomas Reilly and his wife as well as local officials. The Duke of Sussex then inspected a Guard of Honour at the airport.
Before Harry and Meghan arrived, Kensington Palace confirmed the couple would meet King Mohammed VI on Monday, the final day of their visit to Morocco. Royal officials also revealed medical provision had been made for the Duchess who is now seven months’ pregnant. The couple have a packed itinerary during their stay in the country.
The first full day of the royal visit will see Harry and Meghan travel into the Atlas mountains where they will visit the boarding houses run by Education for All, an organisation supporting learning and skills among girls and young women in rural areas of Morocco. They will also tour a high school before returning to Rabat for a reception at the official residence of the UK ambassador.
Thomas Reilly spoke of the importance of the trip as Morocco waited to greet Harry and Meghan. The ambassador told reporters that the focus on women’s empowerment and rights was something that both the embassy and the royal visitors had agreed were vital to the visit. He also shared more light-hearted moments from the build-up, asking for help choosing which pair of Union Flag socks he should wear.
