Kensington Palace decline to comment on whether Thomas Markle knows of Meghan’s pregnancy

Kensington Palace has declined to comment on whether Thomas Markle knew about his daughter’s pregnancy before it was announced to the media this morning.

The Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with her father is known to be incredibly strained following the recent scandal involving disclosures in interviews and staged paparazzi photos.

Meanwhile, Meghan’s mother Doria has issued a statement via the Kensington Palace press office saying she is “very happy” about the news she is expecting a grandchild.

A palace spokesperson said Ms Ragland “is very happy about this lovely news and looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”

Kensington Palace announced early on Monday morning that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child.

It is thought that Meghan is around 12 weeks pregnant.

Harry and Meghan are currently in Australia where they are touring the country as well as New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.

A spokesperson insists that their plans haven’t changed.
