Duke and Duchess of Sussex attend premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the premiere of Cirque de Soleil’s “Totem” last evening at Royal Albert Hall in benefit of Sentebale – the charity Prince Harry and Lesotho’s Prince Seeiso co-founded together in 2006.

According to Kensington Palace, last night’s premiere helped in “raising awareness and funds for Sentebale’s work supporting vulnerable children and young people affected by HIV in southern Africa.” Specifically, funds raised last night will go to help those in Lesotho, Botswana, and Malawi.

Their Royal Highnesses spoke to castmembers of Totem, representatives of Sentebale, and those affiliated with Cirque de Soleil before taking their seats to take in the show in the private Royal Box.

“Everyone loves this. It’s just the health and safety that gets in the way,” Harry joked to organisers when they told him how they hope he and the Duchess would enjoy the show.

As they left the event, they spoke again to those involved with the show and Sentebale. The couple revealed that they “loved” the circus show.

Others in attendance included Elizabeth Hurley, Amber Le Bon, Dani Dyer, and Sir David Jason.

The Chairman of Sentebale, Johnny Hornby, remarked about the show to the Mirror, “We’re very grateful to everyone at Cirque du Soleil for giving us the opportunity to shine a light on the work that Sentebale does to help children and young adults affected by HIV to live happy, healthy and productive lives.”

Last August, the Duke and Duchess attended a performance of Hamilton, also in benefit of Sentebale.

Sentebale has explained on their website, “Our programmes of education and care provide the tools and knowledge this vulnerable generation need to live long, happy, healthy lives in future.”

This was both Harry and Meghan’s second events of the day. Prince Harry first attended a Creative Workshop on Ministry of Defence Mental Fitness at Kensington Palace yesterday afternoon, and six months pregnant Meghan visited her new patronage, Mayhew.
