Duchess Down Under: Invictus Opening

Prince Harry officially opened the Invictus Games on Saturday, with a beaming Meghan in the audience.

The couple had undertaken a few engagements throughout the day, including an embargoed event that saw Prince Harry unveil a new ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park.

The couple attended the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge on Cockatoo Island, and before the Invictus Games opening ceremony, Harry and Meghan attended a reception inside the Sydney Opera House hosted by the Premier of New South Wales. The severe rainstorms delayed the opening ceremony just over an hour, but the Games were declared open on Saturday night.

Meghan wore a simple black Emilia Wickstead dress for the ANZAC Memorial unveiling, customised from its original white design, accompanied by a hat from Philip Treacy. She carried a Givenchy clutch, wore sling-back pumps by Tabitha Simmons, and her jewellery consisted of simple gold pieces.

At Cockatoo Island, Meghan represented the Invictus Games, wearing a Sydney Games black button up shirt and black jeans. She wore a white blazer by Canadian brand Altuzarra, sunglasses by Illesteva, an Italian sunglasses brand.

Her shoes were the same sling-backs from the ANZAC Memorial engagement, and she wore Canadian jewellery.

For the reception and the opening ceremony, Meghan wore British designers. Meghan wore a navy swing coat by Winser London, called the Gillian Anderson Soft Wool Swing Coat. The coat is a double-faced wool fabric that can be belted. It features pink piping details at the neck loop and inside the pocket openings, which are a fashion staple for Gillian Anderson.

Winser is anticipating that new deliveries of the coat will be made in November and has updated their website to include that Meghan wore it at the Invictus Games.

Under, Meghan is reported to have repeated her Stella McCartney cape dress that she previously wore to The Queen’s Birthday Party at Royal Albert Hall in April.

Meghan wore her beige Stuart Weitzman Legend pumps, a pair of sapphire and diamond drop earrings and a white gold bracelet.
