Duchess Down Under: Florals in Suva

Meghan and Harry continued their tour of Fiji yesterday, branching off for separate engagements that saw Harry pay his respects at the National War Memorial and travel into the jungle for The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy Project; and Meghan attend a tea at the British High Commissioner’s residence and visit the Suva market to meet with women entrepreneurs.

The Duke and Duchess joined up for a visit to the University of the South Pacific’s Suva campus, where they both gave speeches – Meghan gave an impassioned speech about the value of education and the necessity of making it available to everyone, and announced two new grants to the University of the South Pacific and the Fiji National University, that would be funded from The Association of Commonwealth Universities.

At the High Commissioner’s tea, Meghan met with representatives from women’s organisations throughout Fiji and learned about the UN Women’s project “Markets for Change” that operates in the South Pacific.

Unfortunately, Meghan’s visit to the Suva Market was cut short due to security issues, but she reportedly met with everyone she’d initially wanted to meet.

For the day of engagements in Suva, Meghan wore a brightly patterned Figue Frederica floral-print maxi dress with pom-poms by designer Stephanie von Watzdorf from a collection inspired by the artist Frida Kahlo. She also had flowers in her updo, carrying the floral theme of her outfit.

Meghan paired the dress with canvas wedge espadrilles by Castaner Carina, a gold bracelet by Shaun Leane, Karen Walker earrings, and a handbag made by Fijian women that had been purchased in the Suva Market.

Meghan and Harry wrap up their visit to Fiji Thursday morning before continuing to Tonga.
