Australian Prime Minister on Royal Baby News: “Australia is thrilled for you both”

The Prime Minister of Australia has tweeted his congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following their announcement this morning that they’re expecting a baby in the spring.

“What fantastic news! Australia is thrilled for you both. Looking forward to sharing in the joy during your stay down under,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison tweeted.

Interestingly enough, Australia has a unique connection to royal babies: it was the location of Prince William’s first tour in 1983, as well as Prince George’s in 2014.

Harry and Meghan are due to begin their 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand later today, Australian time.
