The Duchess of Cornwall misses Christmas Day Church Service

The Duchess of Cornwall missed the Christmas Day Church Service at Sandringham on Tuesday.

Her husband, the Prince of Wales, walked to church on his own with his children and daughters-in-law following behind.

The reason behind Camilla’s absence is unclear, although she missed The Queen’s Christmas Dinner at Buckingham Palace last Wednesday due to illness.

According to a Clarence House spokesperson at the time, Her Royal Highness was suffering from a “heavy cold” and therefore had to cancel planned events

The Duchess was also forced to cancel an engagement at the Olympia Horse Show last week.

Camilla’s last engagement was almost two weeks ago when she paid a visit to an airbase near Chippenham to officially open it in her role as patron of Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The Duke of Edinburgh was also absent from the traditional Christmas Day Church Service at Sandringham.

Buckingham Palace says there is no cause for any concern and that the Duke is not ill.

Prince Philip retired from public life in 2017. He now only makes the occasional appearance.

He will spend the rest of the day celebrating Christmas in private with his family.
