The Duchess of Cornwall and Angelina Jolie form a united front against sexual abuse

The Duchess of Cornwall and actress Angelina Jolie, both advocates of the plight of rape victims met Thursday for to discuss their work to better the lives of those who have endured sexual abuse. The Duchess and Ms Jolie were joined by Foreign Secretary William Hague.

Jolie is in London co-chairing the worldwide summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict with Mr Hague. Earlier they were joined by the actress’s partner, Brad Pitt.

Ms Jolie is special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, has concentrated on seeking to raise consciousness about the use of rape as a weapon of war.

The Duchess has visited rape crisis centres throughout the UK and abroad and is initiating a scheme to afford victims of sexual abuse with toiletries after going through forensic examinations.

During a visit to a sexual abuse support centre in Guildford, Surrey, Camilla came up with the idea of providing rape survivors with toiletries after speaking to women during a visit to a rape crisis centre in Derbyshire.

According to Clarence House: “The two-year pilot scheme will see shower and bath products donated by firms collected into wash bags and given to victims.”
The Duchess stated she “hoped the project would help people feel better at a traumatic time in their lives.”
