As it is Christmas Eve, let us take a look at the royal Christmas greetings sent out by the royals this year.
In Britain, Clarence House released this year’s Christmas card featuring a summer picture taken by Hugo Burnand in the garden of Clarence House.
Kensington Palace also released the photos that will be on the Christmas cards of the Cambridge family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. For the Cambridges, it is a new family photo taken by Matt Porteous at their Amner Hall home. The image used by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was made by Chris Allerton and is from their evening wedding reception on 19 May.
Belgium’s Royal Family posted an image of the King and Queen’s family on social media saying, “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
The Crown Prince Family of Denmark, like their Swedish counterparts, released a family video wishing the Danish people a Merry Christmas.
On 21 December, the Royal House of the Netherlands released a Christmas message from King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima saying, “A blessed Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2019 – WA and Máxima.”
Crown Princess Marie Chantal of Greece shared her family’s Christmas card stating, “Merry Christmas. Sending you all our love.”
In Monaco, Princess Charlene shared an adorable image of her and Prince Albert’s twins earlier this month saying, “12 days until Christmas.”
The Norwegian Royal Family released their three Christmas photos in mid-December featuring the King, Queen, and Crown Prince Family. They were all taken by Håkon Mosvold Larsen.
In Spain, King Felipe and Queen Letizia released their 2018 Christmas card, as did Felipe’s parents, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofía. While Felipe and Letizia’s card is written in both Spanish and English, Juan Carlos and Sofía’s is only in Spanish.
As has become a tradition, the Crown Princess Family of Sweden released a Christmas video, as well as three photos by Tiina Björkbacka wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The Jordanian royals, who are Muslim and as such do not celebrate Christmas, have also sent out warm Christmas wishes to the Christians in Jordan and across the world in addition to messages for the New Year.
Crown Prince Hussein said on his Instagram post about attending a churches celebration for Christmas and the New Year alongside his father, King Abdullah, “Wishing all our Christian brothers and sisters a Merry Christmas.”
Last week, Queen Rania lit the lights on a Christmas tree in the predominately Christian town of Fuheis and posted on her Instagram saying, “Wishing joy and love to all this holiday season.”
Her Majesty later posted a family photo on her social media accounts for the New Year stating, “May we greet the New Year with gratitude for all our blessings and hope for a better tomorrow.”
King Abdullah also tweeted on Christmas Eve, “Merry Christmas to our Christian brothers and sisters in Jordan and around the world. Warm wishes of a peaceful and prosperous new year for our beloved Jordan and for all Jordanians.”
