Yesterday, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall spent the day carrying out a number of royal visits. The location for the day’s excursions was the historic Cathedral City Ely in Cambridgeshire; their first stop was a lovely winter market which was filled with artisan food stalls.
Prince Charles and Camilla ventured out in the cold weather yesterday to sample the delights of the local market. Camilla was seen purchasing some homemade brownies, and the pair tasted samples of apple juice whilst chatting to a variety of market stall holders and visitors, gaining a true feel of the day to day runnings of the stalls.

The couple continued to browse the stalls before Prince Charles paused by a gin stall and suggested he should try a drop. Of course, the stall holder obliged, and Charles was served neat gin in a glass which he joked was as big as his face. The Prince of Wales stated that the cherry and sloe gin that he sampled was irresistible. The stallholder Nancy Declair, who has owned Ely Gin for seven years, was honoured to share her product with Prince Charles and gave him a full bottle to take home with his. She joked with Prince Charles suggesting that the gin was much needed in the cold weather!
As they usually do, the couple took their time to speak to the gathered crowds and greeted groups of children. Camilla was also presented with a lovely bunch of flowers from a group of local children from Rainbow Pre-school in Ely who were very excited about the royal visit according to their teacher.
After the market visit, Prince Charles went on to a visit at The Stained Glass Museum. As Charles is a patron of the museum, he attended to celebrate its 40th anniversary where he cut the cake.
