The online newspaper, Metro UK, reported that the Duchess of Cornwall is pregnant with her third child this morning.
The headline was made in error and was posted on their official Twitter account.
The tweet was soon deleted, but not before it came to the attention of her son, Tom Parker Bowles, who tweeted: “Dear God. Really?”
Users of social media rushed to congratulate Mr Parker Bowles, including comedian Dom Joly who said: “Congratulations on your impending sibling. Must have been a surprise?”
The Duchess of Cornwall has two children, Tom and Laura.
Of course, Metro meant to tweet that the Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth to her third child next month.
The Duchess is rumoured to be expecting the arrival of her third child on 23rd April – St George’s Day.
According to a report in The Sun newspaper, the Duchess has been told that she will give birth on or around the day in which England celebrates its Patron Saint.
A royal source has said: “There’s no certainty with due dates of course but the Duchess is working off a date around St George’s Day and it would be a lovely patriotic coincidence if he or she were born then.
“One thing’s for certain, if it’s a boy he won’t be called George.”
The couple already has one son, George, born in 2013 and a daughter, Charlotte, born in 2015.
The new baby will become 5th-in-line to the throne, pushing Prince Harry back further in the line of succession.
