Duchess of Cornwall attends son’s cookbook launch

The Duchess of Cornwall attended a book launch for her son’s new cookbook: Christmas & Other Winter Feasts at Fortnum & Mason in London on Wednesday evening.

Tom Parker Bowles wrote the cookbook for Fortnum & Mason, which is selling the book on its website for £30.

“As a self-confessed Fortnum’s devotee, informed foodie and acclaimed best-selling author, Tom Parker Bowles is perfectly placed to tell the story of how excellence in food and drink sits at the heart of Fortnum & Mason,” reads the company’s website.

The cookbook offers “seasonable soups and luxurious pie” recipes, as well as “special Christmas bakes and lighter January dishes.” Some of the recipes included Pappardelle with Venison Ragu, Beaufort and Stilton Fondue with Thyme Garlic Toasts, Fortnum’s Hot Toddy, Roast Venison with Celeriac, vegan Cauliflower Couscous, and others.

“It’s sure to be an instant favourite, your trustee kitchen staple and a joyful source of inspiration and delight for many years to come,” reads the website.

The book launch was hosted at the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon – which was officially opened by The Queen in March 2012 with Camilla and Kate in attendance – and featured food samples of recipes in the book.

Camilla is reported to have enjoyed a glass of red wine along with the food sampling and hung out with her son and daughter-in-law, Sara Parker Bowles. Guests included Tess Daly, host of Strictly Coming Dancing, of which Camilla is a big fan; Jimmy Carr, Stanley Tucci, Richard Bacon.

Camilla had earlier that day attended celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Royal Commonwealth Society, where she was announced as its first vice-patron.

This is Tom Parker Bowles’s second cookbook for Fortnum & Mason; in 2016, he published Fortnum & Mason: The Cook Book, which featured a history of the company along with some of its well-known recipes.

Tom has written seven cookbooks in total, served as Tatler’s food columnist and is a well-known food critic who writes for The Mail on Sunday and Esquire.
