William, Kate, Harry and Usain Bolt give Micky Yule a lift in Glasgow

In what can only be described as a Royal morale boost, Micky Yule, who is a Commonwealth Games power lifter, today met The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Olympic legend Usain Bolt.

What was more special about the meeting today was that Micky Yule is also an Invictus Games hopeful and will be competing at the International Sporting event from September 10th to the 14th. The games are on an international scale and were launched by Prince Harry back in March this year and will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

It isn’t the Invictus Games that are on Yule’s mind this week though, as he vows to increase the medal tally for his home country of Scotland. One can assume though that it is very bittersweet for Micky to be able to represent his country at one of the world’s greatest sporting events must be amazing, however he is representing as an injured serviceman. While serving with the Royal Engineers, Yule stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device which resulted in the loss of both of his legs.

He may be a ‘wounded warrior’ but what Micky Yule has achieved since his injury is overwhelming and he is hoping to succeed at both Glasgow and London. In the meantime, he will continue inspiring others who are beginning their own journey of recovery.

What better boost to an athlete’s morale than to meet three members of the Royal Family, and the three members who are all so heavily involved in the upcoming Invictus Games. The games have received the backing of the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and of course Harry’s personal support of the games has been inspiring in itself.

If it wasn’t enough meeting William, Kate and Harry at the Commonwealth Games, Micky Yule also had the privilege of meeting Usain Bolt. Perhaps the six-time Olympic Champion was on hand to give Yule a bit of advice, that’s if he needed any of course.

Micky Yule’s story surely is an inspiring one and just signifies what the Invictus Games are all about. The word Invictus is Latin for unconquered and this just personifies the fighting spirit of Micky Yule and every single serviceman and woman taking part in the event in September.

We have to wonder though, in the case of the Royals and Usain Bolt, who was more in awe of meeting who: the Royals meeting an Olympic champion or Usain meeting Royalty? We have had the MoBot and the Lightning Bolt, perhaps there was talk today of a Royal stance? Now that would be legendary.
