Prince & Princess of Wales

What to expect from Prince William & Kate’s upcoming trip to India and Bhutan

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are all set for their upcoming tour of India and Bhutan. The tour will begin in Mumbai on April 10th and finish with a visit to the Taj Mahal on April 16th.

During the tour The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to visit the Taj Mahal, meet with the Indian Prime Minister and the President of India, trek to Paro Taktsang, visit the Mumbai slums, attend a fundraiser with Bollywood stars, and stay at the Taj Palace hotel.

The tour will focus on “young people, sport, entrepreneurship, Indian efforts to revive urban poverty, the creative arts, and rural life” Kensington Palace said of the tour.

This is the first tour the couple will take since there three day tour of New York in December 2014. The couple will not be joined by their children on this tour but will be back in time for The Queens 90th birthday on April 21st and Princess Charlotte first birthday on May 2nd.

The most anticipated part of the trip will be their visit to the Taj Mahal. The palace was visited by the late Princess Diana in February, 1992. Prince William “is of course aware of the huge esteem of his mother, the late Princess of Wales is held in India and he appreciates the iconic status of the images that exist of the Princess at the Taj Mahal”, said a spokesman of William and Kate. Pictures of the late Princess of Wales at the Taj Mahal are among some of her most iconic pictures.

A highlight of the trip will be in Bhutan where they are scheduled to meet with Dragon King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema. This will be the first time Bhutan will receive a visit from British Royals since Prince Andrew visited in 2010.

The tour will be a very personal tour for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they will not only be following in the footsteps of Princess Diana but will be visiting the Kaziranga Discovery Centre built by the charity founded by the late Mark Shand, brother of The Duchess of Cornwall.

I’m sure just as all of their previous tours this one will be just as productive and successful. I look forward to watching it closely and reporting on it once it is complete.
