What is the next stage of Heads Together?

Earlier this week the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry held a press conference to outline the plans for Heads Together.

With under 100 days until the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon that has named Heads Together as Charity of the Year, William, Kate and Harry believe that this year may very well be a “tipping point” in the way the United Kingdom views mental health.

Up to this point, they have focused on “starting the conversation” and to “end the stigma surrounding mental health”. So what is the next stage?

More conversations seem to be the primary focus. The Duke of Cambridge focused on something as easy as a “simple conversation”, encouraging individuals to speak to friends, family or colleagues about any issue they may have.

Driving that point home, the Duchess of Cambridge talked about how through their continued work, they keep hearing how no one can get through mental health problems alone.

While finding someone to talk to seems to be the common thread throughout the Heads Together history, some new initiatives were brought up.

Prince Harry appealed to the crowd for their help “to have a conversation with the Heads Together team, and share your ideas. We need as many people as possible – famous or not – who can help showcase what it’s like to have a conversation with a friend, family or stranger. All your ideas are welcome.”

They are continuing to look for help elsewhere as well, the Heads Together web page now is looking for supporters for the campaign. Anyone can join in becoming a supporter and must help by “role modelling good conversations on mental health by making very simple films following a format that [they] will provide,
sharing Heads Together films, messages and other materials through social media and directly to your members, employees, etc., and encouraging conversations on mental health in your club or organisation.”

Supporters will be helping ramp up the talks about Heads Together and mental health leading up to the London Marathon, assisting in educating others and ending the stigma.
