The Duchess of Cambridge wears Alexander McQueen to Royal Wedding

The Duchess of Cambridge’s outfit understated at the royal wedding, wearing a primrose yellow Alexander McQueen silk tailored coat.

Kate made her first official public appearance since giving birth to Prince Louis on 23rd April today. Her McQueen coat dress was accessorised with a Philip Treacy hat and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Kate arrived with the bridesmaids and page boys, and was seen escorting her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and Florence van Cutsem into St. George’s Chapel before taking her own seat with the Royal Family. She was sat next between the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke of York during the ceremony.

Some on social media have pointed out the similarities between Kate’s outfit today and the outfit she wore to Princess Charlotte’s christening in July 2015, though it hasn’t been confirmed by Kensington Palace that it is the same outfit.

The choice of Alexander McQueen today could be read as a sentimental choice: Kate’s own wedding dress was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen when she married Prince William on 29th April 2011.

Alexander McQueen is one of Kate’s go-to designers, and she regularly wears the label’s dresses at formal events including the christening of her children, at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and at her own wedding and evening reception.
