Princess Charlotte of Cambridge will be christened on 5th July at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, near The Queen’s country retreat, Kensington Palace have announced.

The daughter of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, in a ceremony at the Sandringham church. She will be 2 months and 3 days old at the time of her baptism.
While the service itself will be private, like that of Prince George at St James’s Palace in 2013, official photographs will be taken after the service and released after.
It will be the first royal christening to take place at the Sandringham church since 1990 when Princess Eugenie was baptised there. The church was also where the late Diana, Princess of Wales was baptised 53 years ago.
Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, said of the upcoming Christening, “I am delighted to be invited to conduct the baptism of HRH Princess Charlotte. It will be an extraordinary honour and privilege to help welcome the Princess into the family of the church.
“Along with her parents and all her family, I look forward to joining in this joyful day of celebration and thanksgiving.”
It will be the second royal baptism that the Archbishop has conducted, having led Prince George’s back in 2013.
The christening comes just a few days ahead of George’s second birthday.
According to palace officials, details on the godparents won’t be released until the Christening itself, however as the date draws closer more details about the event will be released ahead of time.
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on 2nd May 2015 at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, placing fourth in line to the throne from birth (and displacing uncle Prince Harry).
