A few days after becoming a big sister for the first time, Princess Charlotte is the centre of attention today as she celebrates her third birthday privately. She is the second child and only daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
The Princess was born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London on 2 May 2015 at 08:34 in the morning. She was introduced to the media and world a few hours later in the arms of her mother outside the Lindo Wing. She was safely strapped in her car seat not long after by her father before heading home. Her name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, was announced two days later by Kensington Palace.
Charlotte was christened on 5 July 2015 at St Mary Magdalene Church near the Sandringham Estate. Her godparents are her paternal cousin, The Hon. Laura Fellowes; maternal cousin, Adam Middleton; and friends of her parents, Thomas van Straubenzee, James Meade, and Sophie Carter.
The Princess began her education in January of this year when she started at Willcocks Nursery School in London. Two images taken by the Duchess of Cambridge were released to mark the occasion.
She recently made history after her baby brother, Prince Louis’s birth on 23 April of this year. For the first time in the British Royal Family, a younger brother will not jump ahead of an older sister in the line of succession to the British throne. Charlotte will remain fourth-in-line ahead of her newborn baby brother who is now fifth in the line of succession.
On the day of her brother’s birth, she also stole the show as she entered the Lindo Wing with the Duke of Cambridge and Prince George. Her Royal Highness, who loves to dance, showed off her confident personality waving to the press as she entered the building. She melted hearts by turning to wave over her shoulder before entering the famous Lindo Wing doors to see her mother and meet Prince Louis.
We expect to see the three-year-old later this month when her uncle, Prince Harry weds his American fiance, Meghan Markle on 19 May at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. It is believed that Princess Charlotte will be one of the bridesmaids and her older brother, Prince George as a page boy. Kensington Palace has yet to confirm, but the bridal party announcement is expected in the near future.
