The Duke of Cambridge has shared a touching moment with a five-year-old survivor of the Christchurch terror attacks on two mosques.
Prince William was at Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland where he met Alen Alsati and her father, Wasseim. Alen had only recently awoken from a coma; she had suffered severe injuries in the March attack.
The little girl lies in the hospital bed and asks the Prince, “Do you have a daughter?”
William, sitting on the side of her bed, replies, “Do I have a daughter? Yeah. She’s called Charlotte.”
Alen then questions, “What’s her name?”
And the Duke says sweetly, “Charlotte. She’s about the same age as you.”
The little girl then repeats Princess Charlotte’s name as William nods. The video was shared on Kensington Palace’s social media handles.
Princess Charlotte will celebrate her fourth birthday on 2 May.

The Duke of Cambridge also thanked the staff at Starship Children’s Hospital for their care and dedication in treating the victims.
He also visited the Justice and Emergency Services Precinct in Christchurch, telling emergency services, “You did an incredible job on a very bad day.”
His Royal Highness went on to meet with Muslim leaders to “thank them for their work bringing the community together following the Christchurch mosques terrorist attack,” according to Kensington Palace.
The Duke of Cambridge arrived in New Zealand yesterday for a two-day trip on the invitation of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. He is representing Her Majesty to honour those who were lost and impacted by the terror attacks in Christchurch in March.
There were 50 people killed in the attacks and a further 50 injured in two attacks on Al Noor Mosque and Linwood Islamic Centre on the afternoon of 15 March.
The Duke of Cambridge’s visit concludes today where he is continuing to meet survivors and first responders.
