Prince William puts on good show as he ‘gallops’ during Royal Variety Performance

Last night, the annual Royal Variety Performance aired and much to the delight of many, Prince William put on just as much of a show as the actual performers.

Comedian Miranda Hart deserves all the credit for the future King’s act. She prompted the Duke to gallop around the royal box at one point, much to the amusement of the Duchess of Cambridge and the public who took to social media to share their thoughts.

One person tweeted: “Prince William is such a good sport! #gallop #RoyalVarietyPerformance @mermhart such a legend for making that happen.”

Another person commented: “Prince William galloping….what a hero! #RoyalVarietyPerformance.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were this year’s guests of honour at the Royal Variety Performance which took place on 24 November. Prince William’s high-spirits were even more welcomed as the show was almost cancelled due to a terrorism scare.

Only slightly before the Duke and Duchess were due to arrive, there were reports that shots were fired on Oxford Street and in the Oxford Circus tube station.

Police responded to the incident as if it was terror-related, although it turned out to have been a false alarm.

Royal photographers were at the scene awaiting the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Some took to Twitter, reporting that they had been locked in coffee shops and restaurants.

The speed of the emergency services was extremely fast, and following the initial 999 calls, it took just over an hour for police to declare the incident as a false alarm.

There were concerns that the Royal Variety Performance would be cancelled if Oxford Circus remained closed because members of the audience would not have been able to access the Palladium.
