The Royal Foundation has appointed Lorraine Heggessey as its new Chief Executive Officer. She will replace Nick Booth, who has been the CEO since the beginning of the Royal Foundation.
The Royal Foundation works alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry as they identify key charitable causes that they support. The Foundation then works to bring organisations and key figures together to bring about change.
The Foundation was established in 2009 and has particularly focused on major programmes in the areas of nature conservation, young people and veterans.
More recently, The Foundation has been helping coordinate the Heads Together campaign which works towards ending the stigma that currently surrounds mental health. Heads Together is made up of eight charity organisations which receive support from The Royal Foundation
Speaking on behalf of Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke of Cambridge had this to say about the outgoing of CEO Nick Booth and the newly appointed CEO:
“Catherine, Harry and I are extremely grateful to Nick Booth for all of his hard work and leadership. He has used a unique model that makes the most of our ability to bring people together and helped us deliver projects we are proud of. We wish him the best of luck for the future. We are delighted to have someone of Lorraine’s calibre taking over as CEO and very much look forward to working with her.”
-The Duke of Cambridge
Nick Booth who is the current CEO of The Royal Foundation spoke about his departure and his incoming replacement:
“To have been able to lead The Royal Foundation from the beginning and to have had the opportunity to build such an important organisation has been a great privilege and I am very proud of the impact that we have made in so many different areas. We have already had a profound impact on people’s lives – be it providing young people with a brighter future, assisting wounded veterans with their recovery or supporting those on the front line in the fight against the illegal wildlife trade. We have assembled an extraordinary team at the Foundation and I have no doubt that under Lorraine’s leadership, it will continue to develop even more innovative programmes working on behalf of The Duke and Duchess and Prince Harry to effect positive change.”
