‘Kate’s a fan of my recipes’ reveals Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry

The Duchess of Cambridge is a big fan of the Great British Bake Off’s Mary Berry’s recipes, the famous cook has revealed.

“Prince William said Kate used my recipes,” Mary told the Sunday People’s Take It Easy magazine. “They were big fans at a charity auction.”

The star of the hit BBC One show was speaking about the meeting she had with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge earlier this year at the Buckinghamshire headquarters of Child Bereavement UK.

Mary attended the event as she has supported the charity for many years, after her own son William died in 1989 at the age of 18. The loved baking queen described meeting the royal couple as a “surreal” moment.

At the event, the then pregnant Kate told the Bake off star: “I’m a big fan of your cook books and your cakes.”

William added: “My wife is a big fan of yours and my tummy’s a big fan.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their first child, Prince George, on July 22 and since the birth the couple have arrived back in Anglesey, North Wales, after residing at the Middleton family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, since the birth.

Earlier this week, William made his first appearance since Prince George’s arrival as he attended the Anglesey Show and Kate will join her husband in September when the two attend the Tusk Conservation Awards.

“It is a long standing engagement,” a spokesman for the couple confirmed. The event will be the Duchess’ first engagement since giving birth to the couple’s first child and will signal Kate’s return to royal duties.
