Kate Spade, one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite fashion designers, dies aged 55

Kate Spade, one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favourite fashion designers, has died at the age of 55.

According to US media, the American was found dead in her New York City apartment on Tuesday after apparently taking her own life.

Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge is very fond of Ms Spade’s label and often wears her outfits to official engagements.

She was last spotted wearing a Kate Spade design in November when she visited The Foundling Museum in London.

Within hours of appearing at the engagement, the dress sold out.

Ms Spade sold her namesake company in 2007 and the firm was bought by rival New York designer Coach last year in a $2.4bn deal.
