Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge To Receive Country Home From Queen

It has emerged that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are to receive a special country home from Her Majesty The Queen on the Sandringham Estate, the Queen’s country home in Norfolk, England.

Sources say that Anmer Hall, on Her Majesty’s estate is set to be the home of choice for the Duke and his pregnant Duchess.

It is said that Prince William frequently visited the house when it was leased by Hugh and Emilie van Cutsem, who are close friends of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, with Prince William taking a particular liking to the Georgian house.

Anmer Hall is currently leased by James Everett, the owner of the kitchen and timber company Norfolk Oak. He declined to comment on whether he wished to extend the lease, which expires in March 2017, when the Duke and Duchess’s first child will be three years old.

The house has also had some royal inhabitants too! The Duke and Duchess of Kent used it as their rural retreat in the 1970s. The house has been part of the Sandringham Estate since the 1890s.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to finalise their move into Apartment 1A (Princess Margaret’s old apartment) early this year in Kensington Palace. The apartment, which has five bedrooms and three reception rooms, has had to have asbestos removed and undergo rewiring and an overhaul of its antiquated heating and plumbing systems.

Currently, Prince William and Catherine rent a cottage in Anglesey, Wales near where Prince William works. If Prince William were to be called back to the Household Cavalry, it might make it easier for him to work from London and have a country home in Norfolk.

Sources suggested that the Duke and Duchess Of Cambridge would have a house especially built to meet their requirements, but these rumours were quickly dismissed by official aides.
