Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex to attend Wimbledon together

On Saturday, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex will step out together on their first solo royal engagement.

The Duchesses will be attending the Ladies’ Single Final at the Wimbledon Championships. It’ll be the first time the pair are seen in public together without their husbands, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex.

Before the match begins, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex will meet with former female tennis champions. They will also chat with ball girls and boys to learn more about what it’s like to be an important part of the tournament.

The Duchesses will then take their seats to cheer on the Women’s Finalists: Germany’s Angelique Kerber and America’s Serena Williams. The latter is a close friend of the Duchess of Sussex.

Despite this being their first solo public appearance together, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex have attended many public engagements together with other members of the Royal Family.

The Duchess of Sussex’s first appearance with the Royal Family was in 2017 when she joined them for a Christmas Day service. A few months later, she joined her husband and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Royal Foundation Forum.

Last month, the Duchess of Sussex had another significant outing: her first solo appearance with the Queen. The pair had an overnight stay aboard the Royal Train before attending Royal Ascot, which was her Royal Ascot debut.

Pictures of the Duchess of Sussex and the Queen laughing were seen around the world, showing their first solo trip together was a success. The Duchess of Cambridge’s first engagement alone with the Queen wasn’t until nearly a year after her marriage to the Duke of Cambridge.

The Wimbledon Ladies’ Single Final is at 2pm on Saturday.
