Duchess of Cambridge and Baby Prince ‘doing well’

The Duchess of Cambridge and the new little Prince are doing well this morning, Kensington Palace has confirmed.

“Mother, son and father are all doing well this morning,” a statement from the couple revealed.

The royal couple welcomed their first child on Monday afternoon at 4.24pm, when Kate gave birth to a baby boy weighing 8Ibs 6oz. The Duchess was admitted to hospital on Monday morning and Prince William was by her side throughout her labour.

The new parents also took the time to thank hospital staff for the care and support they have been given during their stay.

“We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received,” a statement from the couple said. “We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone – staff, patients and visitors – for their understanding during this time.”

Kensington Palace also revealed the couple may leave the hospital today, but not before 6pm, and if not, they will leave tomorrow morning.

The new little Prince, who has not been named yet, will be titled ‘His Royal Highness Prince (name) of Cambridge, and becomes third-in-line for the throne after Prince Charles and Prince William
