Chief Advisor To Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge & Prince Harry To Step Down

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton is to leave his post as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry’s Principal Private Secretary after the birth of the Royal Baby, he has announced.

The SAS Major has announced that he will be stepping down as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s (and Prince Harry’s) Principal Private Secretary in September after he has stayed around to help the Cambridges with before the birth of the royal baby in July.

Mr Lowther-Pinkerton is not to entirely leave the Royal Household, though says he will be taking up a different career, he will also stay around for one day a week in the Cambridges’ and Prince Harry’s household to act as a supervisor to the younger staff that will take his place.

Lowther-Pinkerton was appointed Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) for his service as Equerry to The Queen Mother in 1986, Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1990 for service with the special forces in Colombia, and Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) in the 2013 New Year Honours.

He was also one of three royal aides whose mobile phones were hacked by the News of the World in 2005.

Lowther-Pinkerton will be pursuing a consultancy career in the private sector, he has said.

A royal source said Mr Lowther-Pinkerton’s departure had been “on the cards for months” because he had made it clear to the Duke, Duchess and Prince Harry that his eventual aim was to finish his career in the private sector.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton’s role will not be assumed by someone else and will now be assumed by the individual private secretaries to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry: Miguel Head, for the Duke; Rebecca Deacon, for the Duchess and Edward Lane Fox, for Prince Harry.
