Carole Middleton named most glamorous grandmother

Carole Middleton has, according to a survey distributed by Kaleidoscope, topped the list of Most Glamorous Grandmother in the UK in her first year of eligibility.

Carole Middleton and Mike Middleton

Carole Middleton, with her husband Michael, leaving the hospital after visiting Prince George for the first time.

On July 22 Carole, 58, became a grandmother for the first time  when her eldest daughter, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge (Catherine) gave birth to HRH Prince George of Cambridge. While Carole surely expected the excitement the birth of her grandson would garner (he is, after all, third in line to the throne), and  a refresher course in nappy-changing and a crash seminar in the most up-to-date childcare tips, she probably wasn’t anticipating that she would be up for any awards, prestigious or otherwise. The Middleton matriarch received a staggering 40% of the votes, with the second place Granny – Goldie Hawn – receiving a mere 28% of the votes. HRH The Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla) also found a place on the list, receiving 2% of the total vote.

Since the early days of Catherine’s relationship with Prince William (now The Duke of Cambridge), the entire Middleton family has found themselves on display, and Carole has been careful to ensure she doesn’t put a foot wrong. Carole, her younger daughter Pippa, and Catherine, all dress in a  classic style, erring on the side of traditional over trendy, while still shopping with top designers and High Street brands, and it seems Carole’s careful attention to detail has surely paid off.

Carole finds herself in great company on the list, which includes six other high-profile Grannies. The final results are as follows:

  • Carole Middleton – 40%
  • Goldie Hawn – 28%
  • Sharon Osbourne – 10%
  • Mary Berry – 10%
  • Jane Fonda – 7%
  • Sally Field – 3%
  • The Duchess of Cornwall – 2%
