King Charles III

Prince Charles ‘Interested’ By Queen Beatrix Of The Netherlands’ Abdication

Royal sources have reported today that the Prince Of Wales has been following the abdication story after Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands announced on Monday that she would abdicate on 30th April (The Netherlands’ Queen’s Day) to make way for her son, who’ll be King.

The Prince has expressed on multiple occasions how he feels he is running out of time and will have no chance to make an impact. Of Queen Beatrix’s abdication announcement, a courtier told the Telegraph newspaper that “The Prince thinks it is a very interesting decision.”

Queen Elizabeth II is currently 86-years-old and will be celebrating her 87th birthday in May of this year. Her Majesty is said to see the role of Monarch as a job for life (for more on this, click here to see our article on whether our Queen would ever abdicate). Queen Elizabeth II became Britain’s oldest ever Monarch in 2007, overtaking Queen Victoria.

The Prince Of Wales, who is 64, will become the oldest heir to the throne in British history. The oldest monarch at the start of his reign was William IV who succeeded to the throne in 1830 at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 5 days — The current Prince of Wales would surpass this age on 20 September 2013.

On 10th September 2015, Queen Elizabeth II would surpass Queen Victoria as the longest-reigning British monarch. At that point she would be 89-years-old.

For now, based on the evidence we have researched and the Queen’s firm religious beliefs, it is almost unimaginable that the Queen would abdicate. So for now, Prince Charles could be waiting up to another 15 years before he gets a chance to reign.
