As Her Majesty’s birthday fell on a Sunday this year, Buckingham Palace said that gun salutes would be fired the day after on the Monday to mark Her Majesty’s birthday.
The salutes were fired from HM Tower of London, Hyde Park, Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, Cardiff and Hillsborough Castle in County Down, Northern Ireland.
Her Majesty turned 87 yesterday and celebrated the day privately at Windsor Castle.
No engagements are planned for The Queen until 30th April now, when Her Majesty welcomes the President of the United Arab Emirates to Windsor Castle for a 2-day state visit.
