HRH The Prince of Wales marks the 75th Anniversary of The Mallard’s speed record on Monday.
His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is visiting the National Railway Museum in York to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Mallard Locomotive’s speed record. The Mallard set a new steam locomotive world speed record of 126mph in 1938, a record that still stands today. His Royal Highness is Patron of the ‘Mallard 75’ celebrations. The Prince is also visiting Leeds for a Prince’s Trust event at Harewood House. His Royal Highness founded the Trust in 1976 to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK.
Devon welcomes His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex. In Exeter The Earl is opening Haven Banks Outdoor Education and Training Centre, a centre offering activities including caving, climbing and canoeing among many others. In Torquay, His Royal Highness visits Living Coasts zoo and aquarium and opens Torquay Academy. The Earl is also visiting Dorchester in Dorset for an event celebrating 70 years of the Dorset Youth Association.
Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex is hosting a lunch at Buckingham Palace for the Craft Guild of Chefs. The Countess is Patron of the Guild, the professional association for people working in catering and hospitality.
Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal is in Oxfordshire. The Princess is supporting her charity Hft (formerly the Home Farm Trust) at an event in Abingdon. Hft helps people with learning difficulties and their families. As Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Logistic Corps, Her Royal Highness is also visiting the Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Munitions and Search Training Regiment at St. Georges Barracks in Bicester.
Her Majesty The Queen is hosting a reception today for the winners of The Queen’s Award for Enterprise. Held annually, the awards recognise the outstanding achievements of British businesses in the categories in innovation, international trade and sustainable development. Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent will join Her Majesty at the event.
Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visit Yorkshire today. In Bridlington, the royal couple will see the harbour and spa, and visit Bridlington Priory to celebrate its 900th anniversary. The Duchess is also calling at an award-winning fish and chip shop ‘Fish and Chips at 149’. Their Royal Highneses also visit the Uncleby Education Centre in Kirby and Withernsea, where they will meet local residents including fishermen and young people in Valley Gardens and Shores Centre. The Prince’s itinerary also includes a visit to Burton Fleming, where His Royal Highness is meeting people affected by the floods in January 2013 at The Burton Arms Public House.
The Princess Royal is also in Yorkshire today. In Wakefield, Her Royal Highness is visiting Clayton Hall Farm and is opening the renovated underground tour and roadways at the National Coal Mining Museum. In Leeds, The Princess visits confectionery manufacturer Candy Makers and in Masham Her Royal Highness marks the 21st anniversary of Herriot Hospice Homecare by visiting a celebratory garden party.
The Duchess of Gloucester is visiting Haven House Children’s Hospice in Woodford Green, Essex. The hospice cares for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and who are unlikely to reach adulthood.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are in Powys for the Royal Welsh Show today. Their Royal Highnesses will tour the show and meet farmers, local businesses, rural charities and volunteers.
Lincolnshire welcomes The Princess Royal today. As Patron of sailing for the disabled charity RYA Sailability, Her Royal Highness is visiting Hykeham Sailability Club to mark its 5th Anniversary. In Boston, The Princess attends a Service of Dedication for the Puritan Path Tourism Project at St. Botolph’s Church. The project commemorates the Puritan men and women from the Church who left England in the 1630s and founded Boston, Massachusetts.
The Duke of Kent opens a new Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution home in South Croydon, Surrey, today. His Royal Highness is Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England, the governing body of Freemasonry in England, Wales and the Channel Islands.
The Prince of Wales officially opens the new garden at Kemble Railway Station in Gloucestershire today. The Student Union of the Royal Agricultural College co-ordinated the work to improve the garden, which also served as a training opportunity for students.
His Royal Highness Prince Harry is visiting the Getty Images Gallery in London today. As Patron of Sentebale, The Prince will see the charity’s exhibition ‘Stories of Hope’.
In London, The Earl of Wessex is attending a National Youth Music Theatre performance at The Rose Theatre. As part of the International Youth Arts Festival, the group is performing Whistle Down the Wind. His Royal Highness is President of Creative Youth and the National Youth Music Theatre.
As President of the Royal Yachting Association, The Princess Royal is visiting the Christian Youth Enterprises Sailing Centre in Chichester, West Sussex. The centre is a Christian charitable organisation and offers multiple activities for people of all ages and abilities.
The Duke of Kent is attending a dinner at Trinity House this evening as President of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The Corporation of Trinity House is responsible for the safe passage of shipping around much of the British Isles, and supports charities like the RNLI.
The Earl of Wessex is visiting the Spetchells Centre in Prudhoe, Northumberland, today. The Centre is a community facility for voluntary groups to use, as well as a ‘one stop shop’ for local public services. Prince Edward also visits Montrose Air Station in Angus to mark its 100th anniversary. Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex is attending the Border Union Agricultural Society’s 200th Border Union Show today in Kelso, Scottish Borders. The Princess Royal is in Devon to open the Dewnans Centre at the Devon Partnership NHS Trust medium secure unit at Langdon Hospital, Dawlish. Her Royal Highness also attends the 2013 Britannia Beagle Puppy Show today at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth
The Princess Royal is at Ascot today. Her Royal Highness is presenting the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, an open-age flat horse race named in honour of The Princess’s grandparents.
The Duke of Kent is attending the Silverstone Classic Meeting at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire. The Silverstone Classic Meeting is a three-day motor racing festival, and His Royal Highness is attending as President in Chief of the British Racing Drivers’ Club.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester is visiting the Brecon Beacons in Powys today as Royal Colonel of the 7th Battalion The Rifles.
