A rehearsal for tomorrow’s State Opening of Parliament has taken place in London today, in preparation for Her Majesty The Queen opening Parliament tomorrow morning.
Key members of the State Opening rehearse their parts.
The rehearsal included everything that one would see on the day, minus full dress uniforms. In the picture above, the Yeoman of the Guard are seen with their traditional partisans, in suits whereas tomorrow they’ll be in state livery to form a bodyguard for Her Majesty in Parliament.
The Yeoman of the Guard also symbolically search the cellars of the Houses of Parliament, harking back to the time of the gunpowder plot by Guy Fawkes at the State Opening of Parliament where he attempted to blow up Parliament with King James I & VI inside and his ministers.

The Household Cavalry will line the steps of the main staircase in Parliament tomorrow which The Queen will go up. They are the only soldiers allowed to draw swords in the Houses of Parliament.
The Household Cavalry is made up of the Life Guards and the Blues & Royals.
The Royal party, which this year includes Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall will travel from Buckingham Palace tomorrow morning by coach and The Queen will open Parliament and read her Government’s speech for what they intend to do in the next year.

In this video below, the Yeoman Usher, the Deputy to the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod (more commonly known as Black Rod) is interviewed about how he and the rest of Parliament ensure the State Opening runs smoothly.
