His Highness will meet Her Britannic Majesty at Windsor Castle today after a full state welcome and carriage drive to Windsor Castle. He’ll be staying at Windsor with Her Majesty and will stay for today and tomorrow (30th April and 1st May).

Shaikh Khalifa’s visit marks the first royal appearance of a UAE leader in the UK since the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was welcomed by the Queen and former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in London in 1989.

Shaikh Khalifa’s two day itinerary will be full with a state luncheon to be held at Windsor Castle as well as a meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street.

The full state welcome which the President will be afforded today was rehearsed on Friday with guards bands and the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery passing through the streets of Windsor.

Her Majesty will stay on at Windsor Castle for the state visit before returning to Buckingham Palace for the working week as Easter court (where Her Majesty spend the month of April at Windsor Castle) ends and the usual working timetable returns.
