We’re that much closer to the upcoming Lifetime movie about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s romance – the actors playing the couple have been cast.
British actor Murray Fraser and Jamaican actress Parisa Fitz-Henley will star as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, which goes into production this week in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Los Angeles.
Fraser has limited acting credits, with only two to his name on IMDb: a mini-series called The Loch, an ITV series where he played a police officer; and an upcoming episode of Victoria, the mini-series about Queen Victoria’s reign, as a Scotsman who mingles with the staff when the Queen heads to Scotland.
Fitz-Henley, on the other hand, has a slew of credits, including stints on Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, two big Netflix shows, as Luke Cage’s late wife, as well as an NBC show called Midnight, Texas, where she has a main role. Her first credits are in 2006, when she guested on CSI: NY and appeared in the film Even Money.
After the casting was announced, Fitz-Henley posted the news on her Instagram, saying “Psyched we can finally share!” and noting her excitement to work with Fraser and Lifetime on the movie.
As previously announced by Deadline, the movie “chronicles the courtship and love story between a beloved prince and his new fiancée.” It will cover the entirety of their relationship, from first meeting and courtship, up to their engagement; and touch upon the way they were able to keep their romance secret and then how it attracted worldwide attention when it was revealed.
A similar movie was released ahead of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011.
Lifetime is aiming for a spring release for Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, and although no date has been announced, it’s likely to be ahead of the couple’s 19 May wedding date.
