He is not even a month old yet but Prince George has already been offered a role on the long running soap, Coronation Street.
Prince George, born on 22nd July is being lined up for a cameo appearance on the soap along side his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. This comes as TV bosses announcing that the show’s set will be moved to Salford in Manchester.
The creative director John Whiston said “We want the royal baby to come and open the new street; it would be fantastic to get Kate, William and George there with a pair of tiny baby scissors”.
Due to the uncertainty of The Duchess of Cambridge’s due date, Coronation Street has yet to mention Prince George in contrast to rival EastEnders who made a last minute adjustment to mention the royal birth.
Coronation Street already had a connection with the Royal Family and John Whiston added “having the newest arrival on the set would be perfect”. Prince George’s grandfather, The Prince of Wales, made an appearance on the soap in 2000 to celebrate the show’s 40th anniversary. He was seen on a television when he visited the fictional setting Weatherfield. That footage was taken earlier in the day with actress Sue Nicholls being presented to the Prince when he visited Granada Studios. Prince Charles received a credit at the end of the episode; Prince George may make a similar appearance.
