Princess Anne will be undertaking a visit to Canada later this month and her engagements will all be military based, it is being reported. The visit will commence on the 22nd October and finish on the 25th October.
As Colonel-in-Chief of many Canadian regiments, her engagements will include attending a dedication ceremony at the Military Heritage Park and a Reception at the Barrie South Shore Centre in Barrie. She will also, as Grand Master of The Royal Victorian Order and President of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Commonwealth Study Conference, attend a reception at Queens Park Toronto. This is just a small percentage of the visits the Princess Royal will undertake in Canada, which also include, as Colonel in Chief of the Canadian Forces Communications and Electronics Branch, various engagements in honour of this post.
The last Royal to visit Canada was Princess Anne’s father, Prince Philip, who made a trip to the Country at the end of April this year. He was there to be awarded insignias of the Companion of the Order of Canada and Commander of the Order of Military Merit.
Princess Anne’s last day in Canada will in no way see her slowing down, as she will unveil the Poppy Project at the Canadian Forces Base Kingston and also attend a dinner at Fort Frontenac Officers Mess.
It is well known that the Princess Royal has Canadian connections, her son Peter Phillips is married to Autumn Kelly who was born in Montreal, therefore making Princess Anne’s grandchildren half Canadian – both girls hold dual Canadian and British citizenship.
Princess Anne is renowned for the amount of engagements she undertakes a year – at nearly 500 a year she is one of the most hard working Royals after, of course, Her Majesty The Queen. Not only does she carry out official engagements, Princess Anne is patron of over 200 charities and puts in many hours supporting them too.
