Continuing on his week-long tour of the United States, Prince Harry met victims and first responders of Hurricane Sandy at New Jersey’s towns of Mantoloking and Seaside Heights today.
Upon arrival, Prince Harry was greeted by Mantoloking Mayor George Nebel and a crowd of well-wishers. He saw Mantoloking’s damaged homes; all 521 of them were affected hurricane Sandy, considered to be the deadliest and most destructive of the 2012 hurricane season.
Escorted by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the 28-year-old prince received a hat from a local police officer and his very own fleece from Gov. Christie. The Governor, who tweeted about the royal souvenir as the picture below shows, is known for commonly wearing a fleece jacket embroidered with his name and office.
Afterwards, Prince Harry’s motorcade traveled to nearby Seaside Heights, another hurricane-ravaged community and home to MTV’s reality TV show, “Jersey Shore,” where he saw the community’s soon-to-be completed boardwalk. He was seen playing with children at a local amusement park.

CNN reports that Gov. Christie is thankful to the prince for putting Sandy back on the news.
From New Jersey, Prince Harry heads to New York in the afternoon (US time) for a GREAT campaign event and a charity baseball lunch hosted by The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
Prince Harry arrived in the US on May 9 and has since attended events in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Colorado. He will end his tour tomorrow with a polo match in Connecticut to benefit his charity, Sentebale.
