Prince Harry Appoints New Private Secretary

“His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales has been pleased to appoint Mr Edward Lane Fox to the position of Private Secretary,” the official press release read.

Mr Lane Fox is currently a Senior Associate with the global financial communications firm, RLM Finsbury. Previously he was Chief of Staff to the company’s Founder, Roland Rudd.

Before joining Finsbury, Mr Lane Fox was an officer in the Blues and Royals. He left the Household Cavalry Regiment in 2006 as Squadron Second-in-Command, with the rank of Captain.

The press release said that this move completes the restructuring of the households of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

The office of Private Secretary is a very close-knit one between the private secretary and the member of the Royal Family. They’re responsible for arranging the official business of their charge (in this case Prince Harry) and working with them to make the most of official visits and functions.

The appointment comes in time for Prince Harry’s visit to America, which will be the first one supervised by the new private secretary. Traditionally, Private Secretaries are paid in the region of £140,000 per year.

Prior to this appointment, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton was the de facto private secretary to Prince Harry, as well as being principle private secretary for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge too.
