Clarification: Prince Charles as ‘oldest heir’ story

Administrator

Earlier today, Royal Central broke the news that Prince Charles is now the ‘oldest heir in history’. Whilst we stand by our original comments, we feel the need to clarify what we intended from our original statement.

Today (19th September 2013), the Prince of Wales became the oldest heir to the throne in British History. There have been some comments claiming that it is in fact Sophia of Hanover who remains the oldest heir.

Advertisment

Our position on this was that Prince Charles is indeed now the oldest heir in British History (overtaking King William IV), but that Sophia of Hanover is and remains the oldest heiress in British History.

We apologise for the confusion caused by our original phrasing of the information and have duly amended our original article to clarify this.
