The Duke of York joins Twitter

His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, The Duke of York – father of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie has become the first ‘HRH’ styled member of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom to join Twitter.

Prince Andrew will use the account, sending tweets personally and signing them with ‘AY’. Other tweets from the @TheDukeOfYork account not signed as such will be from members of his staff.

It is interesting to note that The Duchess of York, currently also has a Twitter account, @SarahTheDuchess.

Other notable royal accounts on the microblogging platform include @ClarenceHouse – official account for the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and @BritishMonarchy – official account for the British Monarchy.
