Sarah Ferguson has taken to her Twitter page to welcome former husband Prince Andrew to the social media site.
Prince Andrew joined Twitter on Monday morning and Sarah, Duchess of York, was one of the first to send the prince a welcome tweet.
“Congratulations on joining twitter,” the Duchess tweeted to Prince Andrew.
“So exciting lots to say great event with Novak Djokovic,” she added as she made reference to a charity gala hosted by Novak Djokovic in London that she attended on Monday evening.
The Duke of York joined the social media site on Monday morning and has so far amassed 23,500 followers. The father of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie follows The Queen and Prince Charles who are both represented by a Twitter page.
Andrew, using the handle @TheDukeOfYork, sent the first message tweeting “Welcome to my Twitter account- AY,” and the page has since tweeted showing the Prince at various royal engagements.
The Prince’s Twitter page continues an exciting period for the royal, who recently launched a re-design of his website.
The Duke of York becomes the third member of the British Royal Family to join Twitter and in recent years Royals from around the world have used social media sites to support and show their charity work.
Queen Rania of Jordan and Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Merit are keen users of Twitter.
