Newlyweds Princess Madeleine of Sweden and husband Chris O’Neill have expressed their sadness after pictures of the couple on their honeymoon have been printed.
Pictures of the couple appeared in the Swedish tabloid press just days after the two married in a lavish ceremony at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
Upon hearing the news, Madeleine of Sweden took to her official Facebook page to address the invasion of privacy.
The Princess explained “We continue to thank everyone for their loving warmth and well wishes regarding our marriage.
“Sadly, the Swedish tabloid press have taken it upon themselves to destroy our privacy and place private photographs of us in their publications today.”
The couple are reportedly on honeymoon in Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. The new Swedish couple follow in the footsteps of Prince William and The Duchess of Cambridge, who flew to the romantic islands for their honeymoon in 2011, spending a 10-day holiday there after their wedding.
The Expressen reveals the honeymoon was a surprise for 31-year-old Princess Madeleine and US banker Chris had planned the trip without his new wife knowing.
With Madeleine’s Facebook message the beautiful Princess expressed her wishes for the rest of her honeymoon with Chris.
“The one thing we wish is that, if only for these few days, our privacy can now be respected.”
The Princess did let her 55,000 fans have one exclusive of her honeymoon as she later posted a picture of herself on a sunny beach with the caption “Enjoying the peaceful ocean…”
Princess Madeleine of Sweden married her US Banker last Saturday in a ceremony attended by royals from around the world.
