The force will certainly be with them as BAFTA President, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry will visit the set of the latest Star wars film at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire tomorrow. Kensington Palace made the announcement this morning through their Twitter account. @KensingtonRoyal promised that this is just one of several surprise events coming up for the royals during the next few weeks.
The Duke of Cambridge has just returned from a highly publicised, whirlwind week-long tour of India and Bhutan with his wife, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge. The Duchess is not slated to accompany her husband and brother-in-law tomorrow.
The royals visit to Pinewood was organised to recognise British talent involved in creating and producing this blockbuster series. Specific specialist teams involved in creating and producing the seventh installment in the Star Wars saga, ‘The Force Awakens’, will meet the princes. To date, this film is the highest-grossing film in the UK. Many original Star wars actors have returned to take up their roles such as Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. There are some newcomers to the cast as well, including Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
Pinewood Studios is known for producing other iconic film series over the years such as the James Bond films and the Superman movies. British film star, Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the latest film will escort the royals during their tour of the studios on Pinewood Road, Iver Heath. Princes William and Harry will also observe film workshops, iconic props and costumes used in this film. They will also meet Ryan Johnson who directed star Wars: Episode VIII and Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker. The royals visit will close with a tour of the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is to be released in cinemas in May 2017.
