Prince Harry: The Many Reasons People Adore the Duke of Sussex

Prince Harry has undoubtedly experienced his fair share of the spotlight in recent years. Once known for his unexpected antics, he now embodies the many qualities that make the British monarchy so popular.

It is not only Meghan Markle who is seemingly smitten with the charming prince, as it appears the whole nation has fallen in love with him. We are therefore looking at the many reasons why people adore the Duke of Sussex.

The Invictus Games

After serving as a troop leader with the Army Air Corps, Prince Harry decided to raise both money and awareness for wounded soldiers by setting up the Invictus Games. “Wounded warriors” compete in the multi-sport event, and the fifth Invictus Games is scheduled to be held in The Hague, Netherlands, in 2020.

A Healthcare Advocate

Prince Harry is not one to shy away from his responsibilities as a member of the Royal Family, which is why he has become an advocate for health. Just recently, Prince Harry proved actions speak louder than words, as he had a blood test recorded via Facebook Live to prove just how easy it is to embark on HIV testing, and he implored all genders and races to follow in his footsteps.

A Rebellious Streak

One of the many qualities many people love about Prince Harry is his rebellious streak. Despite being 6th in line for the throne, his colourful past has shown a human side to the Royal Family, as many people would happily enjoy a drink in a pub with the Duke.

After all, he proved to the press he knows how to let his hair down during his visit to Las Vegas in 2011. One Saturday night, during some downtime from military training, Prince Harry was spotted drinking, partying and gambling at the VIP table, which proves he’s just like anyone else, as he’d most likely be more than happy to grab a pint from a pub, or dance the night away at a club. You can get a taste of the high life right at home, and don’t need to fly to Vegas to do it. Even the Duke of Sussex needs to unwind, as you do too. Supportive of Women’s Rights

During a royal tour of Nepal, Prince Harry urged for more support regarding women’s rights in developing countries, stating “there are way too many obstacles between girls and the opportunities they deserve, so many countries and cultures are failing to protect the opportunities of young women and girls…”. His stance on women’s rights shows a forward-thinking side to the royal, who will strive to carry his views forward in the future.

Charitable Causes

As stated, Prince Harry is dedicated to raising both money and awareness for injured servicemen and women who have returned from battle. For this reason, he trekked to the South Pole to support the charity Walking with the Wounded. During the 210-mile challenge, he had to endure -49ºF, as well as winds of up to 200mph.

A Competitive Spirit

Prince Harry also seemingly has a competitive nature, challenging Usain Bolt, the fastest man on the planet, to a 30-metre race. Showcasing his fun personality, Prince Harry waited until the Olympic Gold medallist’s back was turned before running down the track and crossing the finish line with his arms open wide.
