Emergency services say they were called to a fire on Park Street in Windsor at 23.42pm this evening after a blaze erupted over an empty property in Windsor town, near to Windsor Castle.

The house which caught fire in Windsor was an empty property which was in the process of being renovated by a businessman. The property is believed to be a grade 2 listed building worth millions of pounds. Soldiers from the nearby Victoria Barracks came down to help where they could in controlling the blaze. Thames Valley Police and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service have not yet confirmed the exact details and cause of the fire.

The mainstream media are yet to report on the fire in Windsor.

This has happened just hours before The Queen will be at Royal Windsor Horse Show opening tomorrow. Her Majesty The Queen is currently staying at Buckingham Palace and will probably be made aware of the blaze.

These scenes in Windsor are reminiscent of the 1992 fire that destroyed part of Windsor Castle, causing millions of pounds of damage.

A picture of the house which caused the fire today was found via Google maps via a Twitter user.
