Three sons of Sheikh Mohammed to hold their wedding reception next month

The three sons of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – the Vice President of the United Arab Emirates and Rule of Dubai –  will hold their wedding reception during Eid on Thursday, 6 June where thousands are expected to attend.

It is expected to take place at 4 pm at the Dubai World Trade Center according to various social media posts sharing the official invite cards and invite boxes. The large invite boxes, sent to close family and friends, had “The happiness of the Al Maktoums” embroidered in gold and included an Omani halwa (an Oman dessert), as well for those invited.

The inside of the box also states, “On the occasion of the matrimony of the sons of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hamdan, Sheikh Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmed.”

The government confirmed the date once the social media images started spreading. Social media posts have also shown the Royal Palace lit up in celebration of the three weddings.

As part of Islamic tradition, the receptions will be held in separate areas – both believed to be in the large Dubai World Trade Center. The men will celebrate in one room with the women in another. The men are expected to join their wives towards the end of the celebration for a short period.

Crown Prince Hamdan of Dubai, 36, and two of his brothers, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed and Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammed married in joint ceremonies on Wednesday, 15 May.

The Crown Prince, who has been dubbed one of the world’s most eligible bachelors, married Sheikha Sheikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum in a private religious ceremony Wednesday night. He also serves as the Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.

His brother, 35-year-old Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai, married Shaikha Maryam Bint Butti Al Maktoum while his other brother, Sheikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad (b. 1987), Chairman of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, married Shaikha Midya Bint Dalmouj Al Maktoum.

They are all the children of Sheikh Mohammed and his senior wife, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum.

Crown Prince Hamdan became the heir to the throne after his older brother, Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was removed by their father in February 2008 after killing a servant in a drug-induced rage. He later died from a reported heart attack in September 2015. He was 33.
